Mixology is an art form that requires passion, creativity, experimentation, determination, and patience. To me, crafting a cocktail is a labor of love that consists of homemade ingredients that are organic when possible, all natural, and contain no unhealthy preservatives.
It’s about using one’s artistry and imagination that conveys not only their enthusiasm for concocting a unique and tasty cocktail to be proud to serve, but also a true sense of appreciation and care for what goes into making it. When all of these elements come together, the end result will speak for itself.
My first attempt at the craft took place early in the millennium when I offered to make simple mojitos for a friend’s moving-away party, followed by get-togethers with family and friends.
I can’t recall exactly what inspired me to start, but what I do remember is how much I enjoyed making them and seeing the joy it brought to others.
Within that first year, I felt the need to expand my repertoire, so I decided to try my hand at martini making and have been hooked ever since!
Formulating delicious and exciting martini recipes has been a passion of mine that ignited many years ago and steadily grew.
Thanks to the plethora of flavored vodkas and liqueurs on the market allowing me the opportunity to add to my arsenal, it got my creative juices flowing, so I began experimenting…and experimenting.
I mainly base my ideas off of popular desserts and attempt to recreate them in martini form. Some attempts didn’t come without trial and error, but others were a hit from the start, many of which have been wildly popular at parties and get-togethers.
As the years passed, I took things a step further by making alcohol infusions, as well as liqueurs, flavored simple syrups, and other homemade ingredients to complement my recipes which would later take my martinis–and passion for making them–to a whole new level.
It wasn’t until last December that this new mindset led me to the art of instilling spirits and crafting other homemade ingredients that would be used to curate some very special holiday libations…and what better time to start than right before Christmas, when I would unveil these festive concoctions for the very first time to my beloved family.
I’ve created festive menus and had the privilege of showing off my bartending skills for family and friends’ parties so many times that they’ve coined me the “mad mixologist”…I kind of like that designation. ☺
