Sitting atop Lookout Mountain in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, just six miles from downtown Chattanooga, lies an impressive marvel of nature called Rock City. This world-famous tourist attraction boasts breathtaking views and enchanting grounds that are sure to astonish and delight visitors of all ages. We had the opportunity to visit last summer on my birthday.
Rock City Gardens comprises a 4,100-foot walking trail surrounded by natural geological and botanical wonders. Here is one of the many art sculptures that can be seen.
The following attractions are featured throughout the gardens:
Lover’s Leap where you can see seven states
The legend behind Lover’s Leap is a tragic one.
Swing-A-Long Bridge, a 180-foot long suspension bridge that provides a spectacular view of the Chattanooga Valley
Fat Man’s Squeeze
Mother Goose Village
This is the Sky Bridge, which was a little intimidating to walk over, but it was worth it to get to the top of the waterfall.
This is a lot higher up than it looks. I was holding onto my camera phone for dear life!
As we meandered through the trail and gardens, we took every opportunity to have some fun on our adventure.
We let our inner children out to play in this fascinating wonderland.
This next photo is both cool and eerie at the same time! The shot was unintentional. “Go into the light!” 🙈
It was a beautiful day to explore the grounds and a great way to start my birthday weekend.
Afterward, we headed into downtown Chattanooga to continue the celebration. We enjoyed delicious food, tasty drinks, more exploration, and an overnight hotel stay to make for the perfect birthday weekend!
